No makeover for the MLA..!

By Staff Reporter • 2009-11-10 • 3 min read

Robert Clements An MLA known for his disheveled, unkempt curly hair decided on a makeover and came out of the hairdressers looking so different that his followers and even his chief minister failed to recognize him.

"Lots of MLA's from my district and my workers were surprised.

They did not recognize me," chuckled the MLA.

"Well, well, that's wonderful sir, this makeover.

Curly locks shorn, bristly cheeks shaved, looking amazingly squeaky clean.

But sir would you step away from the barber shop and finish the rest of your makeover?" "It is finished.

My hair is cut, moustache trimmed, beard knocked off, what more is there?" "Plenty sir, would you lie on the table while we just do a little makeover sir! Scrub your heart a bit, surgically remove wrong reasons for becoming our MLA, make them pure!" "Pure?" "This makeover will show you became an MLA to serve the people." "To serve the people?" "Yes, yes, you know what I mean sir; eliminate poverty, bring down prices, water for all, electricity to all the villages, education for children, upliftment of tribals, enhancement of women." "Wait, wait, what are you talking about?" "Makeover for your heart sir! And then one for your mind!" "Mind?" "Saying no to corruption, putting bribe givers in jail, arresting law breakers, nosing out tax evaders, catching criminals.

It will only take a few minutes; after that you will be so squeaky clean your people won't recognize you!" "Nooooooo!" "What sir?" "I don't want this makeover! Leave my heart alone! Leave my mind as it is!" "Sorry sir!" "What sorry?" "We want this makeover! We the people, your electorate, your voters, demand this makeover, so if you will please lie down sir." "Noooo." "Yes! You will! Now surgeon, please start! Give him the kind of makeover an elected representative should have; a spirit of service, a willingness to listen, an eagerness to get things done and the vision to." "I'm sorry!" "Sorry about what doctor?" "A makeover can only be done when the basic ingredients exist in the person, but there is nothing for me to work with, nothing to build on or change in his existing heart and mind! I'm sorry but there's no makeover for the MLA..!" bobsbanter@gmail.com About us | Advertise | Other Publications | Subscriptions | Weather | Letters | Send Mail Disclaimer: Information is being made available at this site purely as a measure of public facilitation.
