Official caught accepting bribe

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, May 28: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today arrested a senior official in the employment office when he was accepting a bribe.

A SVO spokesman said Mohammad Maqbool Lone, son of Abdul Rehman Lone of Bhagwanpora lodged a written complaint that Mohammad Maqbool Shakir, Senior Stenographer and Personnel Assistant to Deputy Director Employment Srinagar was demanding Rs 2000 bribe for processing his loan application under Self Employment Scheme (SES).

Lone had applied for a loan under SES for purchasing a vehicle (TATA SUMO).

He said a case under FIR number 18 of 2008 was registered and investigation taken up.

In the course of investigation the officials of SVO laid a successful trap at Karanagar, near the employment office and arrested Shakir while accepting the bribe from Lone.

The tainted money was recovered from his possession in presence of the independent witnesses.

His hand wash was taken which tested positive.

The accused was taken into custody for further investigation.
