Bandipora killings Hollow slogans of Mufti govt exposed: Omar KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 9: Omar Abdullah, president J&K National Conference strongly condemned the killing of five innocent civilians in Bandipora.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Omar said the gory incident has exposed the hollow slogans of Mufti government efforts at winning the hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir by providing a healing touch.

This, he said, is a political hoax.

He said it is a matter of serious concern and shame that innocent people have been used as a human shield.

Omar said such killings are a heinous crime, which is unpardonable in any civilized society.

He said the dependents of the dead are no longer satisfied with the institution of enquiries because people of Kashmir have lost all faith in such enquiries and as such shall only be satisfied if the guilty are brought to book immediately and given deterrent punishments in the shortest possible span of time.

He said it is sad that the Mufti government has failed to protect the lives of innocent people and is only making false claims in a bid to play to the gallery.

He demanded that the Mufti government which is boasting everyday in Delhi and the state about the decline in the killing and disappearance of innocent people must come out with a white paper to show as to how many innocent people have died / disappeared during the Mufti regime.

Such a paper he said will bring the real face of the government before the public Omar said such killings are a blow to the rich traditions of democracy of the country and the union government must ensure that such unpardonable killings of the innocent do not reoccur.

He also said the union government must realise that with the internal human rights apparatus having become defunct, its imperative that to live upto the country's commitment to transparency, we should allow international Human Rights agencies like Amnesty International open access to the valley so that people of the state do not loose faith in the democratic values of the country, NC president added.
