NEW DELHI, Dec 7 (UNI) Mr Younis Qanooni, interior minister of the Afghanistan interim authority, today asked Pakistan to stop its interference in the Afghan affairs.

It should learn the lesson from aligning with the Taliban which exported terrorism to various parts including Jammu and Kashmir, the visiting minister said at a joint press conference with External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh.

Mr Qanooni, who arrived here from Bonn on a three-day visit to hold extensive talks with the Indian leaders on the Afghanistan situation, said the overwhelming majority of the Afghan people did not subscribe to the Talibanisation of the country.

Only a handful, supported by foreign mercenaries, had spread extremism, obscurantism and fundamentalism in the country, he added.

Mr Qanooni had led the Northern Alliance delegation at the just-concluded bonn peace talks.

He played a crucial role in the conclusion of the accord among various Afghan factions for setting up the interim authority in the strife-torn nation.
