Peace,only option for progressive world: DyCM
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 17: Deputy Chief Minister Mr Mangat Ram Sharma today said that peace is the only option for establishment of a new era of prosperity in the world.
Conflicts present in any corner of the globe could be best sorted out through diplomatic means and dialogue instead of prolonged wars.
The Deputy Chief Minister speaking at the valedictory of the 2-day seminar on the theme "Conflict and Cooperation in South Asia" organized by Department of Political Science, University of Jammu.
A large number of delegates throughout India and a few foreign scholars participated in the seminar.
The delegates highlights various issues in the papers read by them relating to South Asian country's including Human Rights, terrorism and its root causes, free trade policy, nature and dynamics of conflicts in South Asia etc.
Mr Sharma said that huge investments made by the countries on security arrangements if utilized on the developmental works, the existence of Below Poverty Line population in the whole of the continent would disappear.
He said that people of J&K has witnessed the most dreaded face of terrorism and is striving towards the path of peace and progress with consistent efforts.
Deputy Chief Minister further said that there exists desperation in the whole of the world today for establishment of peace, as human race in the blind run of hateress and materialism seems to be approaching its doom.
In the most simple manner he exhibited the letter sent to him by of Prof.
of Pakistan, Mr Rashid Ahmad Khan who was his neighbour and friend before partition and said that boundaries cannot bind hearts and the affection.
He said that with a initiatives taken by two countries, new hopes have arisen, opening of Srinagar Muzzfrabad road is a step in the direction.
Vice Chancellor, Mr Amitab Mattoo in his address gave a example of European Union for their cooperative and unified approach.
As India is the biggest democratic country of the continent it will have to play the role of an economic power and a nucleus for initiating and forwarding peace process in it, he added.

Dinner was later hosted by Deputy Chief Minister to the delegates at his residence.
