Police close to solving murder of DIG crime
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 5: Police is close to solve the murder of deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Mohammed Amin Bhat who was gunned down by ultras on Eid-ul-Azha.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir range, K.Rajendra Kumar said that the special investigation team constituted is conducting investigations and they have received some vital leads in this regard.
"Several shadow outfits have claimed responsibility for this attack.
We are working on some leads and hopefully we will track down the ultras responsible for this incident very soon", said Rajendra.
The Kashmir range police chief said that they have not arrested anyone so far.
"We are just trying to identify the killers.
As soon as we identity them, the other procedures will follow", he said.

Highlighting the importance of the Kashmir Day the spokesman of the Hurriet Conference (A) has said that Kashmir issue has hogged the limelight not only among the world community but also among the leadership of the entire Asian continent.
The spokesman of the conglomerate has urged the world community to take constructive steps so that the Kashmir issue is solved once for all.
Thanking the Pakistan people for their continuous support for the Kashmiri freedom struggle the spokesman of the conglomerate has said that the same has been very instrumental in highlighting the Kashmir problem on the International forum.
"It is all due to the efforts of the Pakistani people in general and its leaders in particular" added the spokesman of the conglomerate.
He has also said that observing Kashmir day signifies the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue for which the Kashmiri people have been offering sacrifices for the last 56 years.
"The solidarity day amplifies the need for solving the Kashmir problem, so that the sufferings and miseries of Kashmiri people are solved" added the spokesman of the Hurriet Conference (A).
The conglomerate has impressed upon the world community to solve the Kashmir problem so that the threat of a nuclear war is avoided.
According to the spokesman the breaking of a nuclear war can cause havoc and bring disaster to the entire world in general and Indian sub-continent in particular.
Meanwhile, the High Court Bar Association at Srinagar has also thanked the people as well as the government of Pakistan for celebrating February 5 as solidarity day with the Kashmiri people.
In a statement issued to the press, the Association has said that it is imperative for the peace loving people living across the globe to support and extend their cooperation to the Kashmiri people, who have been fighting for their independence since the last 56 years.
The Association has urged the world community in general and the United Nations in particular to make it possible that plebsicite be held in the Kashmir so that the people are given the choice of choosing their own destiny.
"It is necessary that the people are given the right to self determination so that they are able to decide about their own fate" added the spokesman of the Bar Association.
The Association has also highligted the need for involving the Kashmiri people while finding out a solution to the Kashmiri problem.
According to the Association this is all more important for the peaceful and long lasting solution to the Kashmir problem.
