Professional training must for better policing: Khoda

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, June 20: Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda today said that for better policing, professional training is must for all ranks of the force as it helps to have legal knowledge, skills and effective traits which have become essential for policing today.

He said the role of police in modern age has diversified and the expectations of public are increasing day by day.

Addressing the attestation cum Passing Out Parade of Trainees of 8th BRTC at Police Training School Manigam, Ganderbal today, the Director General of Police, who was the Chief Guest said that second phase of professional life of the passing out policemen is laden with responsibilities.

He said that the new recruits have to play crucial and challenging role in the modern society as policemen are the pillars of strength of the police organization.

He said every person in khaki should reflect the philosophy, values and image of the organization at the field level and should maintain integrity, honesty, and behave with utmost politeness, impartiality while dealings with public.

Khoda said new comers to the police force will have also exhibit firmness in booking the culprits, anti-social and criminal elements by following the relevant provisions of law.

He advised the recruits to serve the people whole heartedly and listen them patiently whenever they seek your help.

Policemen should take just decisions, he advised the pass outs.

The Director General of Police said the Manigam Training Institution came into existence in 1998 and is situated in the back drop of serene mountain range of village Haripura Manigam on one side and on the other side is flanked by soothing but roaring Sindh Nallah.

Training Complex is presently spread over on 111 kanals and acquisition of 184 kanlas is under process He said the Institution has trained 10539 jawans and officers so far in various professional training courses since its inception in 1998.

He assured the requirements of the institution put forth by the Principal would be look into on priority.

Khoda said the prevailing security scenario of our state has been afflicted by the menace of militancy and during the period various officers and jawans of JKP have made supreme sacrifices in the fight against the militancy while protecting the life and property of the citizens of the state.

It is because of this that the Jammu and Kashmir Police had become one of the best police forces of the country.

He said Jammu and Kashmir Police has done commendable role in restoring the peace and normalcy in the state in very difficult period and will continue to serve the people with zest and zeal.

On the occasion, the Inspector General of Police (Personnel/Trainings), Ram Lubhaya, threw light about various training programmes going on in Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy and various Police Trainings Schools in the state and also highlighted the future plans regarding the training to the officers and jawans in these institutions.

He advised the recruits that after completion of basic constabulary training course and taking the oath to serve the country with great zeal and zest.

He said while performing your professional duties in the field you can earn name and keep high flag of the organization.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Principal Police Training School, MS Punoo, gave detailed account of the training imparted to the constables.

He said that a dedicated team of trainers both in Indoor and Outdoor gave training to the 8th batch which consisted of 545.

He said since the existence of this Training School 4628 trainees have been imparted Basic Training.

Besides the School conducted pre promotion and refresher training courses for in-service police personnel.

Two batches of Forest Protection Force personnel were also imparted Basic Training in this Centre.

On the occasion, Constable Parveez Ahmed No: 464/IRP 8th Bn.

was declared best in Indoor, Best Marksman and All round Best and was awarded CC Class Ist with Cash Reward and one rank promotion for his best performance during the training course in the school.

Among others, the function was attended by Joint Director, IB Arun Choudhry, Inspectors General of Police, SM Sahai Sheikh Owais Ahmed, MA Shah, MA Anjum, Ravinder Kotwal, DIG, Armed, AG Mir, AIG personnel, Riyaz Ahmed, Commandants of various battalions, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, AM Khanday and other police officers.
