RBI Shuttlers bring laurels to state
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 5 : Former state champion Rahul Sharma and Gurvinder Singh have won laurels for Jammu & Kashmir state and Reserve Bank of India, Jammu by winning team championship in the XXII All India RBI Sports Meet held at Kolkata.
The Reserve Bank of India, Jammu team, comprises of these two players won the winner trophy in team championship in which 24 teams from all over the country participated.
The Doubles Team of Rahul Sharma and Gurvinder Singh also won the winner trophy in the individual doubles championship of the tournament.
Besides these two trophies, the Jammu team also stood runner up in the cultural contest held during the tournament when one of the members of the team Dheeraj Arora won the second prize for the song that he presented in the cultural contest.
Dheeraj Arora is the reigning state champion of Table Tennis.
Arnab Roy, Regional Director (J&K) has lauded the performance of the players and expressed hope that they will continue with their good performance by practicing hard and with vigour and zeal.
He assured to give them all support from the Bank in their striving for achieving greater goals.
It is pertinent to mention that both Rahul Sharma and Gurvinder Singh have been included in the All India Badminton Team of Reserve Bank of India.
It is a rare achievement for these players from the relatively small Jammu office to be a part of the All India Reserve Bank of India Teams, comprising of six members from all the offices of the Bank from all over the country.
Both players are officers in Reserve Bank of India and are keen players on the state circuit also.
