RSS meet begins without VHP
HARDWAR, Nov 5 (UNI) The two-day meeting of the RSS National Executive to discuss the emerging political situtaion began here today under the chairmanship of General Secretary Mohan Bhagwat.
VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia have yet to arrive, highlighting the growing chasm between the VHP and the BJP which the RSS is expected to bridge at the conclave.
More than 300 functionaries, including those from 40 Parivar organisations, are attending the meet of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Mandal, the apex executive body of the RSS.
BJP's newly-appointed President L K Advani, his predecessor M Venkaiah Naidu, and Party General Secretary (Organisation) Sanjay Joshi are attending the meeting along with top RSS leaders including RSS Chief K S Sudershan, General Secretary Mohan Bhagwat, Joint General Secretary Madan Das Devi and ideologue H V Sheshadari.
On the agenda are Bangladeshi infiltration, rising security concern in the country and increase in Muslim population as shown in Census 2001.
The functionaries will express their views before passing resolutions on these issues.
The Naxalite violence will also be taken up for discussion.
The meeting will also review the preparation of the birth centenary of M S Golwalkar, the second chief of the RSS, to be held in the middle of next year.
At the end of the conclave, Sudershan will give 'margdarshan' to the Sangh Parivar.
Black mark against Moradabad DM, 9 suspended LUCKNOW, Nov 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has directed to give adverse entries in the records of Moradabad and Jyotibaphule Nagar DM R Ramesh, Meerut DIG Chandrika Prasad Rai and SP (city) Dr Ravindra Kumar.
According to a release issued here, the Chief Minister, after reviewing the developmental works and law and order situation of the Meerut, Saharanpur and Moradabad divisions, ordered for the suspension of nine officials including Jyotibaphule Nagar CDO.
R P Arya, UPPCL superintending engineer S C Arora, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Gautambuddha Nagar Raju Rana, former Moradabad CMO, Abdul Alim Khan, in-charge CMO, Baghpat Dr M C Gupta and some others.
He also ordered for adverse entry to SP (city), Gautambuddha Nagar Anil Jain, UPPCL DGM, Rampur Rakesh Kumar, UPPCL superintending engineer, Baghpat M P Singh, three UPPCL executive engineers in Saharanpur and a host of other departmental officials.
Yadav directed the officials concerned to identify the mafias and criminals and take punitive action against them.
He also directed to take quick and effective action against the cases of threatening, illegal possession of houses, road holdups and robbery.
He announced to provide Rs 471.89 crore for improving the power supply system in Meerut, Saharanpur and Moradabad divisions and said 2,093 villages under these divisions would be electrified by March, 2007.
He also announced the setting up of 400 KVA power sub centres at Greater Noida and Muzaffarnagar and 132 KVA power sub centres at Thakurdwara (Moradabad), Bilaspur (Rampur), Gangoh (Saharanpur), Sector 45 (Noida) and Khurd (Muzaffarnagar).
