SAWERA demands apology from Shahi Imam

HOSHIARPUR, Oct 25 (UNI)"Savera", a society for social awareness, strongly deploring the unsavoury remarks by Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari against film actress turned social activists and Raiya Sabha member Shabana Azami today demanded forthwith appology from him.

The savera at its meeting, presided over by Dr Harish Ohri, taking strong exception to the Shahi Imams outbursts against Ms Shabana Azami during a TV programme last Sunday said this reflected the "vulgarity" of Syed Bukharis mind.

The meeting urged all the right thinking persons to unequivocally condemned the Shahi Imam for his highly irresponsible and derogatory remarks.

The meeting also took strong exception to the Shahi Imam supporting the worlds most wanted Osamma-bin-Ladden and Talibans.

The meeting appreciated the noble role Ms Shabana Azami was playhing in the interest of the Muslims of this country by strengthening the secular structure particularly in the wake of Afghan war.
