Shivratri arrangements reviewed

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 11 : Minister for Revenue Relief and Rehabilitation, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin today announced advance cash assistance and free ration to the Kashmiri migrants on the eve of Maha Shivratri.

Reviewing the arrangements made to ensure availability of various facilities in the camps on the festival at a high level meeting here, the Minister said the rations and the assistance should be provided to them well before the festival.

In order to monitor the supply of essential commodities and smooth flow of other basic services like medicare, uninterrupted electricity and drinking water particularly during the festival days in various camps, a committee of officers headed by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was constituted.

The meeting was informed that consumer affairs and public distribution department would ensure supply of standard quality of food grains through its sale depots which will remain functional from 10 am to 4 pm on all week days.

The department would also ensure adequate supply of K.

oil during the festival days.

He asked the concerned officers to conduct inspection of ration sale outlets to ensure availability of best quality of rice to the people.

Lal Singh today said that the nation will always remain indebted to the great heroes who sacrificed their lives for safeguarding the territorial integrity of India, be in aggression or ingression.

Unveiling the statue of martyr Gdr.

Kuldeep Singh at Suhanjana near here, he said that the martyrs laid their lives for our safe future and it is incumbent upon the compatriots to look after their families and take care of their welfare.

Kuleep Singh attained martyrdom while braving militants on November 7, 2002 at Mahore and is survived by a son.

The government, Singh said is aware of its responsibility towards the families of brave soldiers and all possible assistance is provided to them to lead a dignified life.

'In their supreme sacrifices lies the strength and vitality of democratic India', he observed adding that democracy can thrive only when its citizens feel secured.

Singh proposed organization of a mega-festival to felicitate families of these soldiers on the pattern of one being organized at Kathua every year.

'Such events will not only infuse spirit of patriotism but also encourage young and brave to join belt forces'.

Later, the Minister also inspected sub-district hospital, Suhanjana and sanctioned an ultrasound machine and transformer.

He also visited the free health camp organized jointly by Army and health department and interacted with the patients thronging there for treatment.

On the proposal mooted by the Minister, Colonel Amit Pandey who is supervising free health camp offered construction of two rooms with in-built facilities in expanding the block of the sub-district hospital.

The additional accomodation will further facilitate patients and their attendants, he said.

Balbir Singh, Rajesh Bittu and Thakur Khajoor Singh.
