Sonia to release free CD of Hindi software
NEW DELHI, June 19 (UNI) Heralding a revolution in Language computing technology in the country, National Advisory Council Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will launch a free CD containing rich collection of Hindi Software Tools and Fonts here tomorrow.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Dr Shakeel Ahmad will also be present at the function.
Ms Gandhi would also launch the website which would provide free distribution on-line, upon registration by the net surfer at the designated website.
The contents of the free CD include Hindi Language True Type Fonts with Keyboard Driver -C-DAC, Modular Infotech, Cyber Scape Multimedia, C.K.
Technogies and Softview.
The CD would also have software on Hindi Language Multifont Keyboard Engine for True Type Fonts, Hindi Language Unicode Compliant Open Type Fonts, Modular Infotech, Cyber Scape, CAD Graf Digital System Ltd, Hindi Language Unicode Compliant Keyboard Driver, Generic Fonts Code and Storage Code Converter for Hindi, Hindi Language Version of Bharateeya OO.o (Open Source), Firefox (Browser in Hindi), GAIM ( Multi Protocol Messenger in Hindi), Columba (Email Client in Hindi), Hindi OCR - C-DAC, Aasaan Typing Tutor for Hindi and English, Integrated Word Processor, Dictionary English - Hindi, Hindi Language Spell Checker, Hindi Language Transliteration Tool, Hindi Language Text to Speech System, Translation support system from English to Hindi through the website, Hindi Language Corpora over the website.
The Department of Information Technology (DIT) has developed a series of Software Tools and Fonts in various Indian languages and would release it for free public distribution.
