Stranded passengers start arriving from Oman
KOCHI, June 9 (Agencies): A total of 156 passengers, including two children, from cyclone-ravaged Oman reached Kerala today by an Oman Airways flight, which landed at Nedumbassery airport near here.
The flight reached the airport at 8.15 am.
Relieved passengers said they were happy to be back in their home state.Some passengers said they were stranded in the airport and some in their buildings.
Mohan Kalarickal, an employee of an Insurance company, said many Keralites were stranded in Ghubru and Wadia.
Most had lost their passports and travel documents as buidings had crashed.
The relatives of the passengers had gathered in good numbers at the airport to receive them.
Indian would be operating a flight at 7.30 pm today to bring back passengers from Muscat.
More flights would be operated to Oman in the coming days to bring back stranded passengers, airlines sources said.
Gulf Air would also be operating a flight to Muscat from Kochi this evening.
