Stumbling into war?

The only new thing which Parvez Musharraf, the President of Paki-stan, said in his address to the nation, was that India was indulging in terrorist activities within Pakistan's territory.

He linked this accusation with State sponsored violence, arson and rape against the Muslims in Gujarat and the atrocities of the Indian security forces in Jammu & Kashmir.

This was a clever ploy to shift the blame on the adversary.

The assassination of Abdul Ghani Lone in Jammu, in the presence of hundreds of security personnel and thousands of persons, came quite handy to him.

Obviously, this attempt to mislead the world public opinion can hardly succeed.

Midstream By Shibani Dasgupta Old age in India: Is it a boon or a bane Age, according to tradition and training in India is highly valued in our society.

The wisdom and experience that it brings are fulcrum of our culture.

As of now, this seems far from the truth and the ground situation.

India has the second largest number of old people in the world and their numbers are growing.

Older people in India are also the fastest growing age group in the population.

At present, seven percent of the population, 77 million people, in India are over 60.

Their numbers will rise to 176 million by 2026.

But India's elderly are no longer honoured for their wisdom or experience.
