Tara Chand calls on union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil

KT NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI, Aug 6 : The Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly Speaker, Tara Chand alongwith a delegation from Jammu called on Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil here the other day.

The delegation comprised of Dr.

Romesh Sharma MOS Revenue, Madan Lal Sharma, MP and Darshan Raina General Secretary PCC.

During their half an hour meeting with the Home Minster they discussed overall situation of the state and discussed with him the problems faced by the border migrants of Chhamb and Nowshera sectors of Jammu Division.

Tara Chand highlighted that the people living close to LOC in the areas of ChHamb and Nowshera sectors had left their homes and migrated to other places during Kargil war of 1999.

The delegation requested the Union Home Minister that the people living in zero line should be shifted to safer places and government should provide plots for construction of their houses at safer places.

He also requested for waving off their agriculture loans and government should rebuild their damaged infrastructure especially schools, Hospitals bridges and drinking water facilities.

The delegation also demanded that a Special Recruitment Drive should be organized for unemployed youths of Border Migrants and they should be given employment in police, CRPF, BSF and other Para Military forces.

The relaxation in age and qualification should also be given to them.

The delegation also demanded that under Border Area Development Programme more grants should be given to the state so that the work on these areas may be taken up on priority basis and its area of execution should be extended upto 8 k.m.
