PUNE, Feb 15 (UNI): A special MCOCA court today allowed prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi and his brother Azim to attend the religious rituals following their mother's death recently.

The court asked Telgi to bear the expenses of the police 'bandobast' for which an amount of Rs 30,000 was deposited by their nephew Irfan.

Special Judge S M Shembole also issued a showcause notice to the jailor of Yerwada prison for not allowing Telgi to speak to his mother and ordered him to appear in court on February 23.

Telgi's lawyer Milind Pawar submitted to the court that despite permission granted by the court, Telgi was not allowed to speak to his mother.

In his reply earlier to the application filed by Telgi seeking permission, the jailor had said it could not be granted as it was not allowed by the Jail Manual.

The MCOCA court wanted to know why its orders were not carried out.

All the accused, barring former Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote and suspended IGP Shridhar V, were produced in court today.

Their judicial custody was extended till March 11.

Many of the accused complained to the court that they were not receiving adequate medical attention.

The court asked the jail authorities to submit a report and directed that proper medical care be given to the accused.
