Two women among 10 injured in road mishaps

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 25: Two women among ten persons sustained injuries in separate road mishaps across Jammu region during the past twenty-four hours.

Reports said, a mobike-borne youth Manoj Kumar of Mandyal Ramgarh was hit and injured by a tractor at Ramgarh.

He has been hospitalized in Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here and police have taken cognizance.

Similarly in other road accidents, Kishore Raj of Basti Court was hit by speeding mobike at Sohanjana Basti , Amit Gupta of Janipur was hit and injured by a rashly driven minibus at Jewel Chowk, pillion rider on a mobike Shahida Parveen of Bari Brahmana was injured when the mobike skidded off road at Bari Brahmana, Narinder Kumar of Billawar was hit by a speeding car at Billawar, Balwant Kumar of Kalibari was hit by a tractor at Kalibari, Devi Dass of Ratno Chak was injured in a collision between his scooter and mobike at By-Pass Channi, Ram Saroop of Malik Market was hit and injured by a mobike at By-Pass Road, Ghulam Rasool of Doda was hit by a van at Roop Nagar and an unidentified woman was hit by a rashly driven vehicle at Nagrota.

Injured have been hospitalized in GMC Hospital here and police have taken cognizance.

Youth commits suicide KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 25: A youth allegedly committed suicide in his house at Kamini under the jurisdiction of Nagrota police station late last evening.

The deceased has been identified as Javed Ahmed Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmed Sheikh of Kamini Nagrota.

Reports said, after reprimanded by his father over a trivial issue the 21-year old youth hanged himself with the ceiling hook at his house late last evening.

Reports further said, studying in Class XII the deceased belonged to a good family and around 10 days back his sister's marriage had been solemnized.

Body after autopsy at PHC Dansal, was buried by the family members today, said reports.

Nagrota police have registered a case under section 174 Cr PC.

Mobike stolen KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 25: Burglars have stolen a mobike from Krishna Nagar under the jurisdiction of Miran Sahib police station.

Official reports said, mobike bearing registration number JK02R/5695 was stolen from Krishna Nagar Basti in Miran Sahib today.

A case of theft stands registered at the police station.

Meanwhile, Canal police post today seized a scooter bearing registration number JK02H/8067 under section 550 Cr PC.

Revenue official caught red-handed, 2 SWD officials challaned KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 25: The Vigilance Organisation (VO) has caught a revenue official while accepting bribe and produced challan against two Social Welfare Department officials under Prevention of Corruption Act.

A VO spokesman said, the challan was produced by the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir Srinagar against former Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bandipora Abdul Samad Najar and his Assistant Bashir Ahmad Khan for misappropriation of over Rs 16.20 lakhs sanctioned by the government under various Social Security Schemes during 2003-04, He said, the accused officials have misappropriated a large amount of government money sanctioned under the Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Old Age Pension Scheme in Tehsil Bandipora.

The accused officials have shown the disbursement of money to the tune of Rs 16,20,634 among the beneficiaries through post office money orders.

However, when the records of Post Office were checked it was found no money orders were booked.

It was also revealed the officials prepared disbursement records by manipulating the thumb impressions of the beneficiaries.

These records were got examined by the Forensic Experts who opined these were fake and fictitious.

After completion of the investigation and accord of sanction of prosecution by the government the challan of the case was produced in the court.

He said a written complaint was received from one Mohammad Maqbool Sofi that office Patwari of Naib Tehsildar office in Baramulla is demanding bribe for processing the Resident of Backward Area (RBA) certificates in favour of his three sons for which he had applied.

He said, an FIR was registered and investigation taken up.

In the course of investigation, he said, the vigilance team was deputed to Naib Tehsildar office Baramulla who laid a successful trap during which Rifat Ara was caught red handed while accepting an amount of Rs 1500 as illegal gratification from the complainant.

The tainted money and the file regarding the issue of RBA certificate in favour of the sons of the complainant was recovered from her possession in presence of independent witnesses.
