Union Agri ministry for promotion of Trout farming
KT NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI: Union Agriculture Ministry is unveiling several programmaes to promote horticulture and fisheries development, especially Trout fish farming in Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar told his ministerial colleague Prof.
Saidudding Soz, who called on him at his office here on Tuesday that a special project for promotion of fresh water trout fish would be considered on priority.
Both the ministers discussed in detail the ways to promote horticulture and fish-culture.
Soz informed the Union Agriculture Minister that the activities of the recently constituted National Fisheries Development Board had not been extended to Jammu & Kashmir.
He elaborated the potential of fisheries in promoting economic development.
He also held that there was a sizeable export market for fresh water trout fish in gulf and other regions.
