UPCA in search for sponsor for Indo-Lanka Test match

KANPUR, Nov 8 (UNI): Even as the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Asociation (UPCA) is still waiting state government's order to handover Green park stadium for Indo-Srilanka test match from November 24, they are also in frantic search for the sponsor.

Hardly a fortnight is left for the match, it is not likley to get a sponsor and UPCA is prepared to organsie the match on its own.

"It is basically a job of Board for Cricket Control of India (BCCI) to find out the sponsor and this could be expedited only after the ongoing India-Australia one day series," Prem Dhar Pathak, the secretary of UPCA told UNI.He has gone to Mumbai to attend a meeting of the BCCI.

He said the UPCA would search for the sponsorship if BCCI did not arrange for the one.

"We are hopeful to get the sponsorship for the Indo-Srilanka test match but keeping our options open to organise the match on our own," Pathak said.

In case the sponsorship is not available, the UPCA has alreay made up its mind to organise the match without sponsor,he pointed out.

Pathak said the printing of tickets was already in the porcess as very days were left for the match.

The name of UPCA officebearrers was being printed in the place of sponsor because the date of the match was nearing, the UPCA secretary said.

The sale of season tickets would start through local brnaches of the State Bank of India(SBI) on November 21 and 22 while the sale of season and daily ticket woudl be underway from November 23, Pathak informed.

The sports Officer of Green park stadium Bula Gaguli said that the official letter with regards to get the ground on rent from the state government had yet to reach.

" It is likley to reach by the next week," she said.

Meanwhile, the necessary arrangements with regards to renovation in dressing rooand spectators galleries are on while the pitch curator Shiv Kumar is working hard on the pitch.

The traditional score board of Green Park is also being spruced up for the match, Ganguli said.
