Yasin urges Kashmiris to take the spiritual path
KT NEWS SERVICE Srinagar, Jan 12: Attributing distancing from the spiritual path laid down by the Kashmiri Saints as the reason for collapse of social and religious structure in the state, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik today appealed Kashmiri people to hold to the spiritual path of the Sufis and Saints for mitigation of their miseries.
"Till we held on to the teachings of these great spiritual men, we lived in happiness.
Our religious as well as social lives were prosperous," Malik said, adding that it was the shunning of this path that led to the engulfing of the society by religious and social evils.
The JKLF chairman was speaking to a gathering at the tomb of the famous saint and Sufi poet, Khwaja Habib-ullah Nowsheri (RA), at Nowshera in Srinagar today on the occasion of the yearly Urs at the tomb.
Malik said that the Kashmir had the honour of being the adobe of several Saints and Sufis who led the nation on the path of spirituality.
"But it is very unfortunate that the nation deviated from that path and invited decline on to ourselves.
The result is that even our children are not ours now," Malik stated while a curious audience listened calmly.
Malik called upon the people to fight back the elements who want to divide us on sectarian lines and instead create an environment of unity among the people of different sects.
"It is this unity that can help us achieve the great cause that we are fighting for," Malik said.
