1873 cows, buffaloes impregnated artificially

KT NEWS SERVICE RAJOURI, June 20 - Concerted efforts are being made to increase milk production in Rajouri district through use of new technology.

For the purpose Department of Animal Husbandry Rajouri impregnated as many as 1988 cows and buffaloes through artificial insemination and natural services with quality bulls across the district during first two months of this current fiscal.

Meantime, 1822 inferior bulls have been castrated to avoid birth of inferior animals in the district resulting the department registered 1043 quality calves during the period.

To avoid outbreak of any disease department is in touch with the Veterinary department to maintain round animal health and vaccinations are being done across the district.

As many as 14565 animals have been treated against whooping cough, black quarter and FMW.

Besides preventive measures have also been taken to prevent the outbreak of any disease among the poultry birds.

The department vaccinated 79903 poultry birds in the district.

Meantime, 29694 animals have also been treated against various diseases and dozing has been administrated to 30519 animals.

Poultry being the subsidiary income of the farming community 2547 poultry birds have been reared besides establishment of 177 poultry backyard units during the reported period.
