2 security personnel among 5 killed

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Five persons including two security forces personnel were killed in separate militancy related across Kashmir during the past 24 hours.

According to a police spokesman, two security forces personnel and a militant were killed in an encounter at Aari Goripora, Kangan in Srinagar district.

The encounter started in the early morning hours when the a joint party of 5 RR, 24 RR and SOG Ganderbal cordoned off the village after receiving the information that some militants are hiding there.

The militants started heavy started firing on the security forces personnel and the fire was returned.

During the cross fire two security forces personnel and a militant were killed while as a civilian was injured.

According to the last reports firing was going on in the area.

Police recovered the body of Abdul Hamid Piswal son of Umerji Piswal resident of Dahwathoo from Satlanjan-Behak, Pahalgam.

He was kidnapped by militants during the intervening night of August 4 and 5.

Hamid was affiliated with PDP.

Police added that a skeleton identified as that of Samad Lone son of Ghulam Qadir was recovered from Balli Nallah in Kupwara district.

A resident of Budnambal, Lone was missing from June 2.

Police has started investigations into the case.

Police said that militants fired two rifle grenades and opened firing towards a security forces camp at Shopian.

One of the grenades hit the house of Ghulam Qadir Mir thereby causing damage to it.

The other grenade did not explode and it was later defused.

Police added that a Tata Sumo driver Bashir Ahmad Gasi was injured in a firing incident at Wazir Bagh in Srinagar city.

He was removed to a hospital for treatment.

According to the late reports, an encounter is going on at Konibal, Pampore.

According to a local news agency, KNS, the militants are holed up in the house of Ghulam Ahmad Dar.

The militants lobbed hand grenades and fired upon a security forces personnel party of 33 RR when the forces party went there to carry out a raid.

Border Security Force (BSF) claimed that it arrested a militant owing allegiance to the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) from Bana Bazar, Pulwama.

Some arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
