Army sponsors education tour for Kathua students

KT NEWS SERVICE KATHUA, Jan 4: To give students broader prospective of India vision, a group of 30 students of Kathua district was flagged by Col.

of 137 Medium Regiment for Bharat Darshan here today.

The 12 days educational tour sponsored by the Army under Operation Sadhbhavna includes visits to Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur and Mount Abu.

The group comprises of both boys and girls in the age of 13-17 years studying in various schools of district Kathua.

The tour provides the students an opportunity to reach beyond the isolation of their own habitat.

The moving spirit behind the tour is to kindle amongst the children an awareness to strengthen the democratic multilingual, multi religious and culturally diverse nature of the country of which they form an important part.

While addressing the students and the teachers of the excursion, Col.

Ajay Paul appreciated the courage displayed by the students in volunteering for the 12 day excursion and extolled each one of them to spread the message of national integration, literacy and development among their brothers and sisters in Kathua.

Paul hoped that the tour would serve as a source of motivation for them to contribute towards national integration.

The present tour is likely to provide the youth of the district with an opportunity to experience the cultural, regional and geographical diversity of the country and bring greater awareness among the younger generation regarding their surroundings.

While in Delhi, these children would have the privilege of meeting the President of India as also of undertaking a tour of Indian Parliament.
