BJP asks parties to protest against "illegal projects"

Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Jun 17 (UNI) The BJP today urged political parties in Andhra Pradesh to put up a unified fight against the illegal construction of projects by the Maharashtra government on the Godavari river.

Talking to newspersons after the conclusion of the BJP's 24 hour-long Dharna here, leader of the state unit Vidyasagara Rao said all the parties should rise above political considerations and protest against these projects.

He also urged Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to take all the political parties into confidence and work out a strategy to stall the projects taken up by the Maharashtra government.

Referring to mega projects being taken up by the state government like Polavaram and Pulichintala, Rao said it would be better if the government took up smaller projects which could be easily completed.
