BJP mobilises for Feb 18 rally

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 16: The BJP has mobilized entire Kashmir unit for February 18 rally of its president M.Vankiah Naidu here.

Nearly 8,000 to 10,000 people are expected to participate in the rally at Sher-e-Kashmir park here.

Secretary of BJP national minority cell Chaudhary Shah Mohammed Khan has already reached here to monitor the arrangements for the rally.

It will be the first public rally of any BJP chief in the last 13 years here.

And BJP state unit is leaving no stone unturned to make the rally of its chief successful.

Secretary of state BJP Charanjit Singh Khalasa said that all the workers and party supporters have been asked to be present in the rally.

"We have decided to keep vehicles available to ferry the workers and supporters from different parts of the valley.

There is a tremendous enthusiasm amongst the workers about this rally", he said.

Khalsa said that the rally will mark the first major election campaign of the party in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said hundreds of the workers and leaders of different political parties will join BJP in this rally.

"Several leaders of different political parties have desired to join our party.

During the rally, they will formally announce joining our party", said Khalsa.

He said that by holding this rally in Kashmir the party wants to convey that from north to south and from east to west, India is one.

"Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee kicked off the party campaign from Kanya Kumari in south and Naidu will start the campaign from Kashmir", Khalsa said.

After holding the rally here, BJP chief is likely to fly to Jammu where he will hold an intellectual meet in Abhinav Theatre.
