LONDON, Nov 5 (UNI) A British man has been charged with the murderof Deputy Indian High Commissioner Ravindra Mhatre who waskindnapped in 1984 by a group demanding release of Kashmiriprisoners in India.
Mohammad Aslam, who was produced before the Magistrate's Court in Birmingham, has been remanded in police custody till November 11.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front allegedly kidnapped the Indian diplomat in February 1984 to demand release of Maqbool Bhat who was accused of hijacking and blowing up an Indian Airlines plane in 1970.
Mhatre's body was found at a Leicestershire farm two days after he went missing.
Two men were jailed in February 1985 forMhatre's murder.
Aslam was first arrested in the United States in July 2003 after he was caught for overstaying.
