KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, May 2: In a swift action, police claimed to have nabbed the youth involved in snatching cash from a woman near Punjab National Bank (PNB) Gangyal.
Police said that a woman identified as Anuradha Mishra, wife of Rajiv Mishra resident of Jeevan Nagar withdrew Rs 8500 from the PNB Gangyal and when she was boarding the minibus, a youth snatched her cash at 11.30PM.
The woman, however, raised alarm but the accused managed to flee from the spot.
The woman informed Police Station Gangyal about the incident.
Police team led by SHO Police Station Gangyal Inspector Javed under the supervision of SDPO City (South) Sukhdev Raj and SSP Jammu Alok Kumar arrested the accused three hours of the incident from his hideout and recovered the stolen cash.
A case has been registered in this connection in Police Station Gangyal.
Kidnapped girl recovered KT NEWS SERVICE KATHUA, May 2: Police claimed to have recovered a minor girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a youth from Banki Monga area of Chattisgarh, from Seri Muni area of Basohli in Kathua district today.
She has been identified as Seema Devi, 16, daughter of Raj Kumar of Gurhota under the jurisdiction of Police Station (Chattisgarh).
Police said that the accused identified as Anand Raj, 22, son of Manna Ram of Gurhota kidnapped the girl from her village on April 3, 2008 and he shifted the girl to Seri Muni area of Basohli.
The accused police said was working as painter.
Following inputs of presence of girl in Basohli area, Chatisgarh police contacted the District Police Headquarter Kathua.
Police swung into action and rescued the girl.
Police also arrested the accused.
The girl was subjected to medical examination.
The arrest was made police team of Basohli under the supervision of SDPO Basohli KD Singh and ASP Kathua Benam Tosh.
