18: Congress Party on Wednesday launched "India cheated Campaign" to puncture NDA government's ad campaign on the eve of Lok Sabha poll and called it "miuse of tax payers' money to blow Prime Minister's trumpet".
"A campaign is going on for the past few months to present untruth as truth.
Peoples' money is being misused to blow the trumpet of Vajpayee..India has been cheated", Senior Party leader Kapil Sibal told reporters and announced launching of ' India cheated campaign' to counter that of BJP's which highlighted the "feel good factor" Assailing advertisements appearing in newspapers issued by various departments on different issues, he said Vajapayee government has directed various ministries to come out with such ads.
Citing several "examples of lies advertised by various departments", Kapil said an Ad by the National Commission Of Population was giving credit to Vajpayee for the reduction of birth rate from 26 per thousand to 25 in the last three years.
Similarily, the advertisement by Khadi and village Industries, a sinking organisatiuon, has been projected as india's "biggest and fastest growing market of consumer product" merely because of its cumulative earnings.
Sibal gave similar example of advertisement by Telecom, Food and Textile Ministries and Tiger Project and their claim on internet connections in five years, surplus food stocks and Prime Minister's commitments to the weaving community, saying "they are all being cheated.
JeM 'commdr' among 2 ultras shot dead in Mendhar Captain shot at, injured KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 18: Security forces today eliminated two militants including an 'operational commander' of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit in an encounter ar Ari area of Mendhar in district Poonch while an army captain was injured when he was fired upon by some ultras at Surankot Helipad this morning.
Police has busted an hideout in Thandisoo area of Mahore yesterday.
According to the Defence spokesman, two ultras including a JeM 'Operational Commander' were shot dead by the security forces in an operation at Ari area of Mendhar today.
The spokesman said that an operation was launched following tip off presence of some ultras in the village.
The troops laid tight cordon around the village and started searches.
The militants hiding in a house opened heavy firing on the security forces which was effectively retaliated.
Two ultras were gunned down in an operation which was in progress when reports last came in.
One of the slain ultra has been identified as Umar Khalid (operational commander) of JeM outfit.
The other militant, however, remained unidentified.
Recoveries made from slain ultras included one AK-47 and one AK-56 rifles, 7 AK magazines, 50 rounds of AK ammunition, four hand grenades, two radio sets, 30 pencil cells and one Dictaphone.
The details of the operation were still awaited.
In another incident, an unidentified ultra shot at an army captain at Surankote Helipad this morning at 1130 hours.
He sustained bullet injury in his right leg and was shifted to Potha Hospital for treatment.
The injured army captain has been identified Tanvir.
A search operation has been launched in the area to flush out the ultra.
Security forces busted two hideouts in Budhal (Rajouri) and Mahore (Udhampur), which included 105 rounds of rifle ammunition, ten hand grenades, nine 0 volts batteries, seventy 1.5 volts batteries and one radio set.
Another hideout was busted by the police in Thandasoo forest area of Chassana yesterday.
Five hand grenades (marked as REN Argnes), one I.Com set and two pouches were recovered from the area.
