KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Aug 6: The slight rise in the temperature despite the intermittent rains for the last two-three days has made the weather a bit hot in Srinagar city and other areas of the valley.
Though there is no cause of concern over this change in weather pattern, yet people here take this as an extraordinary trend in the usual weather parameters.
The officials at meteorological office maintain that this is no extraordinary variation in the temperature saying it is quite normal.
Says T K Jotshi, Assistat Director, Met office Srinagar: "There is need to get alarmed over this since a two or three-degree rise in temperature is quite normal going by the weather conditions prevailing in the region.
And then rains have also been occurring for the last few days".
Some elderly people also hold the view that during the month of August and the first fortnight of September, the temperature rises.
They believe that this rise in temperature is quite conducive for the crops since the rice crops ripe up only in warm weather conditions.
However the younger generation seem to be ignorant of these details of the climatic conditions of the valley.
"I was under the impression that only the month of June and July happen to be very hot, I never thought that in the month of August, days turn so hot", says Elyas Ahmad of Chanapora.
