By Dolly Sagar Diwali is here and all the fairer sex- would be trying to be the best dressed ladies in the party.
But, as per fashion designers, what is more important is the `effect' you create among your compeers rather than the dress you wear.
You might be wearing the costliest of the designer labels, but unless the over all effect is there, you will not succeed in your mission of being the ` spark' of the party.
Conversely you might be wearing a very ordinary dress..
But the effect can be really stylish, if you ensure that the correct accessories/make up/ and the all important hair style is there, matching with your character/physical attributes.
Of course, your attitude is also very important.
But if you know that for the Diwali party you are looking your best, then the confidence will naturally come in.
Present day fashion designers realize this and are now a days taking an over all view of fashion, suggesting the |'make up" decision, that will go with their creations.
In fact, they have come around to the decision, that with each of their designs, only certain type looks will bring out the creative effort of the couture.
Happily Diwali is the best time to pamper yourself/splurge freely and literally let you hair down, when you want to look your best.
Let us also remember, that as all our festivals become more secular, there is no urgency to be seen in the properly religious garments like sarees/salwar kameeses/ or the traditional lehenga cholis.
You are free to freak out with your hair style ( most important attribute to your fashion) and make up.
The idea is to plan as to what are the effects you want to create on the on lookers and dress suitably.
Classical look- One approach you can do is to ensure that your hair style is classic, with long hairs rolled into graceful knots at the base of the neck.
If you hair is short, then you have the option of letting it fall loose, with the hair parting prominent.
You can even opt out for a wavy look with curlers.

Ensure that you do not use eyeliner, to mark along the eyelash lines.
You can opt out for slightly arched eye brows, tapering outwards and thicker in the centre, penciled lightly into a thin line.
For hanging out with the "crowd" in coffee bars and restaurants, you can have your hair dressed up as what is called "french rolls".
The front portion is to be kept flat, while at the back/base of the neck, you have to comb it to form volume rolls.
The lower part of the french roll needs to be pinned tightly to support the hair, that is pulled out at the top to form the extra loop or protrusion.
Be sure to have plenty of pins to form a solid foundation.
To hold the base, use a good hairspray.
Or if you would prefer to keep your hair loose, then try rolling it or better still go to a beauty parlour .
For let me tell you ..that this is a process even taking hours.
But gives you crowning glory with beautiful ringlets and if you were to brush the same, will add volumes to your hair.
But if your choice is 'wild & whacky" it needs more effort, as you have to carefully wave the hair down from the temple area.
Now a days perming lotions can do the trick.
But, remember, while choosing a hair style lot depends on your make up.
In this particular case, keep the make up as loud as possible.
One way, would be to use light red on the lips, and this colour can be defined with moderate size artificial black moles on the sides of the mouth.
The eyeliners can be laid out thick, in such a way, that the eyes get a fish shaped look.
Stylish This is also known as an elegant look and it has to be done by back combing your hair into a high bouffant.
You can create a large bun.
As for make up do not apply kohl.
Use thick black eye liners and colour the eyelids in pink/blue/green colours.
The idea is to make your face look as natural as possible.
For the 25 plus ladies, you can be at home with western as well as Indian outfits.
But your make up should depend on your skin tone.
The most important aspect of Diwali dressing is that the style should suit your looks/ attitude towards life.
Otherwise it is likely to cause a fiasco.
