By Dr Vinod Mehta Disinvestment: Hungarian experience For the past more than five years the Government of India has been trying without success to disinvest in the public sector undertakings.
It has been facing a strong opposition not only from the employees of these organization but also from the Opposition parties; there is also opposition from some of the ruling NDA allies.
The end result is that the Government goes on to carry the burden of many of the loss-making units year after year.
The money saved on the loss-making units could have perhaps been used for education and healthcare.
