SHANGHAI, Nov 8 (UNI): Jyoti Randhawa missed the chance to record a first-ever top five finish as he stumbled his way to an even-parfinal round to finish tied 19th at the prestigious WGC-HSBC Champions tournament here today.
Randhawa, who was joint sixth overnight, was off to a good start with a birdie on the very first hole.
But he frittered away the advantage as he bogeyed the fourth and double bogeyed the ninth to be two-over at the turn.
The Indian ace got his act together on the back nine with birdies on the 14th and 16th to sign off with a 72.
Among other Indians in fray, Jeev Milkha Singh was placed at the tied 33rd position.
The Chandigarh golfer carded a two-under 70 for the second consecutive day to finish with a total of three-under 285.
However, young Indian pro Gaganjeet Bhullar and C Muniyappa continued with their below par performances as both returned over-par cards yet again to sign off tied 74th with identical totals of 12-over 300.
While Bhullar carded a 74, Muniyappa could only come up with a 79.
Phil Mickelson (69) of the US won the title by a stroke over South African Ernie Els after ending with a total of 17-under 271.
World number one Tiger Woods finished tied sixth with an even-par card, his worst performance this week.
The American finished with a total of 12-under 276.
