KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 9: Some of the members of the Flour Mill Members Association of Kashmir have demanded that the quota system be abolished that has been introduced for the lifting of the flour in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Some of the members of this group while talking to KTNS said that they are being forced to suffer on the cost of others.
These members allege that the higher ups of the Association are not in a position to grind more and more quantity of flour as they are engaged in doing some other jobs.
"The officials of the Association are making us to suffer due to their own inefficiency and we are being forced to lift as well as grind less quantity of flour" said one of the flour mill owners while criticizing the policies of the Association.
These members also say that they are in a position to grind more and more quantity of flour, but they cannot do so because of the presence of the quota system operational only in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
These members also add that the quota system is affecting their bread and butter as they are dependent upon the trade as they do no other job than this unlike the higher ups of their Association.
These members of the flour association have also ridiculed the weights and measurements systems prevalent saying that the weight of a bran bag is supposed to be 30 kgs but the dealers are playing with the law as the bran bags contain just 25 kgs.
They have urged the government to take strict action in this regard.
These members have also appealed the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department to make it possible that the quota system for the lifting of flour is abolished so that they are able to feed their families in a better and efficient manner.
