Former beauty queen, mother booked for immoral trafficking

RAIPUR, June 17 (UNI) Chhattisgarh police has arrested a 21-year-old former state beauty queen, besides her younger sister and mother under the prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).

Police said the woman and her two daughters were staying since June nine in a hotel, where their behaviour and movements raised suspicions.

A trap was laid on a tip-off by engaging a local painter to work as a decoy, who contacted the woman over her mobile phone and struck a deal for Rs 15,000, the police claimed.

The woman and her two daughters were detained from a busy crossing on Wednesday night when they reached there to meet the prospective customer.

During interrogation, the woman claimed that she and her daughters had reached the state capital in connection with an interview of her daughter pursuing a graduate-level business management course in Madhya Pradesh, besides pursuing a career in modelling.

Later, police arrested them under the provisions of PITA and produced them in the court of judicial magistrate class Nita Yadav, who granted them bail.
