KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Jan 27: The residents of Gojwara in downtown city today staged a dharna while protesting against the police action against local whenever an incident of stone pelting takes place in the area as well as adjoining areas.
Reports said that the residents of the area including women came out of their houses and carried out protest demonstrations in the area.
These people protested against the police action carried out on them when protest demonstrations or incidents of stone pelting take place in the Jamia Masjid area and the other adjoining ones.
The protesters said that the people who pelt stones on the police as well as security forces come from the other areas and when the police chase them, they are able to reach safer places.
After this the residents allege that the police pounce upon the locals of the area and carry out action against them even if they are not involved in any incident.
Showing the smashed glass panes of some of the houses the protesters said that the police as well as security forces personnel would not miss any opportunity in smashing the glass panes of the houses whose outer walls fall on the main roads as well as lanes.
They demanded that the higher ups of the government should look into this so that in future such actions are not repeated.
