KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 4: Mystery shrouds death of a man, whose corpse was recovered from Bus Stand area here while a GREF employee was knocked to death at Sungal Morh in Akhnoor and eight others were injured in different road mishaps across Jammu region during the past twenty-four hours.
Elsewhere, a youth allegedly made an abortive bid to end his life and three others were injured in separate clashes.
Corpse recovered: Mystery shrouds death of a man, whose corpse was recovered from Bus Stand area here this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Gurnam Singh, 35, son of Darshan Singh of Malpura Batara.
Reports said that this morning Bus Stand police found the body lying near a petrol pump at KC Morh in Bus Stand area.
The corpse was later shifted to GMC Hospital while police have registered a case under section 174 Cr PC.
Road mishaps: A GREF employee was knocked to death at Sungal Morh in Akhnoor today when an army recovery van hit him.
The deceased has been identified as Kundan Lal, son of Amarnath of Adarsh Colony in Akhnoor.
Reports said that this afternoon an army recovery van hit Kundan at Sungal Morh in Akhnoor causing him serious injuries.
The victim was immediately rushed to military hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have registered a case in this connection.
In other road mishaps Karnail Singh of Pogal Ukhal in Banihal was injured when a truck rolled down at Thrian, head constable Bansi Lal Gupta of 6 APHQ was injured when hit by an unidentified vehicle at Gandhi Nagar, Ayodhya Parshad of Nanak Nagar was hit and injured by a rashly driven car at Gandhi Nagar, Prita Devi of Billawar was hit and injured by a vehicle at Lakhdi in Billawar, Durjan Singh of Dogra Chowk was hit and injured by a car at Gujjar Nagar, Kuldeep Singh of Hiranagar was injured when he fell down from a moving minibus at Hiranagar.
Similarly, Preeti Devi of Batote and Mohan Lal of Gangyal were injured in different road mishaps at Chinore and Kunjwani.
All the injured have been hospitalized in GMC Hospital while police have taken cognizance.
Poison case: A youth allegedly made an abortive bid to end his life by consuming some toxic substance at his residence today.
The victim has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Bodh Raj of Satwari.
He has been hospitalized in GMC Hospital and police have taken cognizance.
Clash cases: In separate clashes at least three persons were injured.
The injured have been identified as Dev Raj, son of Tara Chand of Reasi, Madan Lal, son of Amsoo of Talab Tillo and Naresh Kumar, son of Sudesh Kumar of Channi.
The victims have been hospitalized in GMC Hospital and police have taken cognizance.
