The basic issue in Kashmir is that of loss of identity and constitutional guarantees, even as there are issues of development and unemployment, which has given way to a lot of anger that needs to be resolved, said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a candid interview with Anuradha Bhasin for Kashmir Times.

The relationship between New Delhi and Srinagar is at its lowest ebb, he said, adding that the problem cannot be wished away.

The way forward, he suggested is for India and Pakistan to enter into negotiations as per the commitments made by the leaders for years.
