Indian in coma, no clue about his family

DUBAI, Feb 12 (UNI) Thirty four-year-old Indian Dhandapani Govindan is lying in coma in a Bahrain hospital since being found unconscious on a street in the kingdom's capital of Manama four months ago with no details available about his family.

Indian embassy and community organisations have come forward to help him return to India, but the only details they have are the name and age given in his residency papers found on his person.

For the second time in three days, health officials and the embassy have appealed for information about Govindan who was admitted to a hospital with a clot in the brain, Gulf Daily News reported.

After being found unconscious on the street on October 20 last year, the hospital staff contacted his sponsor who said Govindan was a runaway worker.

The embassy is trying to get his address in India from records in the Bahrain immigration office on the basis of the residency permit number.
