KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 3: The hosts Jammu district lifted State hockey championship for Gajendra Memorial cup after defeating Baramulla in final match , which was played at KK Hakku Astro Turf Stadium here today.
Mandeep Singh, captain of Jammu district scored four goal including hatrick of the match.
In the very first minute, Mandeep pushed the ball gently into goal giving not chance to goalkeeper of team to judge the ball.
Later in the 10th minute he scored his second goal and had completed his hatrick in the 32nd minute.
His fourth goal came in 39th minute.
From Baramulla, Jatinder Singh reduced the margin to 4-1 in the 51st minute.
After two minute, Rajinder Singh converted second goal of the team thus curtailing margin to 4-2.
The hosts district player Jagjit Singh converted penalty corner in the 54th minute and sixth goal was pumped by Gurpreet Singh in the 56th minute of the match.
Out of five penalty corner awarded, Jammu district has finished one into net, while Baramulla earned two penalty corners.
MLA Ajay Sadhotra was the chief guest, who gave away Gajinder Memorial Cup to the hosts Jammu district team.
ADGP HG/CD PS Gill, who is also president of the J&K Hockey Association was also present in the function.
Besides, Ajay Sadhotra, TS Wazir and Jagjit Singh were also witnessed concluding function.
Joginder Singh, Harmanan Singh, Harvinder Singh, Daljit Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Jasbir Singh and PD Singh were the officials of the tournament.
