CHANDIGARH, Mar 2 (UNI) In a rare instance, a military court today cashiered Maj Gen P S K Chaudhary from service and awarded him one-year rigorous imprisonment for accepting illegal gratification and professional impropriety.
The General Court Martial (GCM), held at Ferozepur Cantt, has found teh senior Army official guilty of these charges levelled against him under the provisions of the Army Act, while the punishment was awarded to him today, the highly placed sources in the Western Command at Chandimandir, near here, told UNI.
The Maj Gen ws serving as Additional Director-General, Weapons and Equipment, at the Ay Head Quarters in New Delhi, when a sting operation carried out by Tehelka.com in 2001 caught senior Army officers, bureaucrats and politicians allegedly demanding and accepting bribes.
The charges against Maj Gen included demanding and accepting a gold chain and Rs one lakh in cash and interacting with foreign fir without an approval from the authorities concerned.
Leh-Chandigarh flight cancelled CHANDIGARH, Mar 2 (UNI) The CD7464 Indian Airlines flights from Leh to Chandigarh and CD7483, from Chandigarh to Leh, have been cancelled for tomorrow, an Airlines release said here today.
