KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: One passenger was killed and fifteen others sustained injuries when the minibus in which they were traveling in over turned at Tangri village in Jourian area of Akhnoor Tehsil today.
Reports from Akhnoor said that the tyre of the minibus bearing registration number JK02J-0097 burst all of sudden when it was on its way from Jourian to village Kaleeth at Tangri and it over turned resulting in death of one passenger and injuries to fifteen others.
The local residents and way side shopkeepers rushed to the accident site.
They brought out the injured from the minibus and shifted them to Health Center Jourian.
One of them was pronounced as brought dead while seven critically injured were referred to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor.
The deceased has been identified as Tilak Raj, son of Thoru Ram of Kaleeth.
The injured referred to the SDH Akhnoor were identified as Kamla Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, Rajni Devi, Rajni Sharma, Rano Devi, Subash Chander and Sunita Kumari.
However, locals staged protest outside the Health Center Jourian where the Ambulance driver was not present when the injured were referred to SDH Akhnoor.
The protestors went berserk and they damaged the wind screens of the Ambulance.
The injured were later shifted in private vehicles.
The protestors raised slogans against the Minister for Health Mangat Ram Sharma and the Health Center authorities.
Police has registered a case in this connection.
An Auto-Rikshaw (load carrier) driver was injured when his vehicle bearing registration number JK02AE-2615 was hit by an unknown vehicle at Mishriwalla on January 17, 2008.
The injured driver identified as Sunny, 25, son of Ashok Kumar of Reshamgarh was shifted to the GMC hospital the same day where after medicare he was discharged the next day.
A case has been registered in Police Station Kanachak in this connection.
Report from Kathua said that a motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a rashly driven truck bearing registration number HP39-9352 at Kalibari area of Kathua district today.
The injured identified as Romesh Chander, son of Uttam Chand of Sounthal was hospitalized.
