Maran was NDA's best minister: Venkaiah

CHENNAI, Dec 2 (UNI) BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu today described union minister Murasoli Maran, who died last month, as "a very good administrator and the best minister in the NDA government at the centre." Naidu, who called on DMK supremo M Karunanidhi and Maran's elder son, Kalanidhi Maran, at the former's Gopalapuram residence here, said Maran was a "pillar of strength" to the NDA government.

Expressing sadness over the loss of a good administrator, he said "we were hoping he would survive and be back in the government, but we had to hear the sad news." Naidu said personally he had a good rapport with Maran.

Referring to the predictions made by the exit polls on the outcome of the Assembly elections, Naidu said it would not serve any purpose to question the veracity of those polls.

"The people have exercised their franchise and the votes are in the ballot boxes," he said, adding the result would be known on December four.

"However, I am confident that the BJP would get better results than what has been predicted," he observed.
