Munsif 'roughed up' by cop

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2: A judge of Munsif's court Gool was allegedly roughed up by cops at Canal road naka here this evening.

According to the reports a judge of Munsif court Gool Sheikh Parvez Iqbal entered in a verbal duel with constable Sat Pal over parking of a car at canal road this evening.

The judge allegedly slapped the cop after which the constable Satpal corked his gun.

However, another cop on duty intervened into the matter and pacified the situation.

Senior police official rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

Clash over possession of Mosque management KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2: Over the issue of possession of the management of a mosque located near Bahu Fort, clash took place between two groups today on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.

The senior police officials including Superintendent of Police (SP) South Bhupinder Singh rushed to the spot and pacified the situation.

Police said that a minor scuffle took place between two rival groups over the issue of the possession of the management of the mosque near Bagh-e-Bahu.

One group was led by th e local Gujjars while another was led by those who settled in the area few years ago.

The issue was sorted out with the intervension of the police and both rival groups agreed to offer Namaz jointly in the mosque.

Youth killed, 13 injured in Kashmir KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 2: A youth was killed while 13 persons including two CRPF men suffered injuries in different militancy related incidents across Kashmir during the last 24 hours.

Police said militants kidnapped Fayaz Ahmad Mahend of Nilora, Pulwama and later shot his dead.

A case has been registered.

Militants, police said hurled a grenade towards an army vehicle at Bus stand Magam in Budgam district which missed the target and exploded on road causing injuries to 11 persons.

They have been removed to hospital for treatment.

In another grenade incident, two CRPF jawans were injured when militants tossed a grenade at a patrolling party at Shopian.

They were shifted to hospital where they are responding to the treatment.

Security forces recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunitions from different militant hideouts raided during the last 24 hours across Kashmir.

CM, DyCM condemns DIG's killing KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2 : Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has strongly condemned the killing of Mohd Amin Bhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Crime and Railways while coming out of a mosque after performing Eid Nimaz in Srinagar today.

In a message Mufti Sayeed said that it is indeed a shocking that militants killed god fearing police officer on the occasion of Eid that too after he performed Eid Nimaz.

He said it is yet another senseless act of elements who are trying to derail peace process which has been taken of in reference to whishes and aspirations of the people of state.

He said such type of brutal and inhuman acts are highly condemnable and would not deter us from the chosen path of working for restoration of peace in the state.

He said elements responsible for this incident are not true Muslims as they have committed this carnage on a pious day.

He further said that such type of activities would not lead these elements anywhere.

Mufti Sayeed conveyed his personal condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Mufti meets Saudi King KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2 : The King of Saudi Arabia Fahed today hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and other dignitaries at Mina who had come in Saudi Arabia in connection with Haj pilgrimage.

Mufti Sayeed is heading the Indian Haj delegation and conveyed the King a personal message of Prime Minister of India and goodwill of the countrymen.

He expressed his personal gratitude and also on behalf of Government of India for the arrangements made for the smooth Haj pilgrimage.

Mufti Sayeed and Saudi King discussed efforts being made for addressing internal and external dimensions of Kashmir problem.

Heads of Haj delegations of other countries also participated in the lunch.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma and Minister for Tourism, Housing and Urban Development, Ghulam Hassan Mir have condemned the killing of Mohd.

Amin Bhat, DIG Crime and Railways today in Srinagar.

In their separate messages the Ministers have conveyed their heart felt condolences with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Dy CM joins Antim Ardas of Prof.

Harjeev KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2 : The Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma joined the Antim Ardas (last prayers) held in memory of Prof.

Harjeev Singh of MBS College of Engineering and Technology, at Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar here today.

Prof Singh had succumbed to his injuries after a fatal road accident few days ago.

To pay tributes to the departed soul and pray for its salvation, a grand religious congregation was held at the Gurudwara.

Besides staff and students of the College, hundreds of relatives, friends and associates of Prof.

Singh participated in the Antim Ardas.

The speakers while paying rich tributes to Prof Harjeev described him a teacher par excellence who could infuse a spirit of dedication, devotion and nobility in his students.

Sharma expressed his heart-felt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved family.

He prayed for salvation of the departed soul and courage to the family members to bear the irreparable loss.
