ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (UNI): Reiterating that national security and safety of the people will be ensured at all costs, Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has warned that the government would move firmly and swiftly against all law-breakers, media reports said here today.
The news said the president announced this yesterday after chairing a cabinet meeting.
Commenting on the widespread protests in the country against the raids on Afghanistan, Gen Musharraf said there were no such problem at hand, saying some people were spreading disinformation, rumours and exaggerated views.
"Only Afghan refugees along with limited number of extremists are taking part in protests, and there is no public reaction at all," the newspaper quoted the president as saying.
Gen Musharraf said all preventive measures had been taken to deal with the situation, though there is nothing to be concerned at.
"We will not tolerate any extremists activities aimed at damaging national assets or national interest," he said, adding that "stern action would be taken against any person involved in law-breaking activities," the news said.
According to the newspaper, Gen Musharraf blamed the loss and damage to property in Quetta on the slackness of provincial and district administration.
