KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Apr 23: Mystery shrouds the death of a housewife who was found hanging with the hook of ceiling fan at her residence in Chatha Gujran area under the jurisdiction of Police Post Gajansoo today.
Police reports said that a woman was noticed hanging with the hook of a ceiling fan at her residence in Chatha Gujran area this evening.
The deceased has been identified as Bimla Devi, 26, wife of Rashpal Chand of Chatha Gujran.
The victim was noticed hanging with the hook of ceiling fan at her residence today by his family members who shifted her to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital.
She was pronounced as brought dead by the doctors.
The body was shifted to the GMC mortuary for autopsy.
Police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPc in the case.
The cause behind the provocation was, however, not yet ascertained.
Police sources said that the victim was married year ago and she was having strained relations with her husband.
She was issueless and was being tortured by her husband, police said, adding that the possibility of murder of the woman can't be ruled out.
The investigations are still in preliminary stage and it is difficult to ascertain the exact reason behind her death at this moment, police added.
