Naidu reaching Srinagar today

KT NEWS SERVICE New Delhi, Feb 17: The BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu will fly to Srinagar tomorrow along with party General Secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to kick start party's election campaign in the Valley for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Naidu told media persons here that he will address a public meeting in the forenoon at the Sher-e-kashmir Park and later fly to Jammu to have interactions with intellectuals there.

During his brief stop over he will also address party meeting at Jammu.

Although the Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani have visited the Kashmir Valley a number of times , tomorrow's meeting will be BJP's first political function to be addressed by the party president in the last twelve years.

The last visit of the BJP president to the valley was in August 1992 when Human Resource Development Minister who was then party president was flown to the Valley to hoist National Flag at Lal Chowk in the heart of the city.

Referring his party's electoral prospects in the Valley, Venkaiah naidu said we are just making a humble attempt.

The party, he said is comparatively weak in the valley.
