KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 28: We were in search of an alternative and felt that People's Democratic Party (PDP) has a platform for us to voice genuine aspirations of people of the state in work as well as in deed, said Ghulam Nabi Kaboo who left National Conference (NC) and joined People's Democratic Party (PDP) here today.
Kaboo, a senior leader of National Conference (NC) from Handwara joined People's Democratic Party (PDP) alongwith 30 other functionaries of district and block level of Kupwara at a function held at the party office here today.
Chief Patron of the Party Mufti Muhammad Sayeed welcomed the workers Reading a statement during the joining in ceremony at the PDP party office in Jammu today, Kaboo said that the decision emanated from their urge to play a conscientious role in the state politics as humble political workers.
He said that Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's tenure as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was an eye opener for political class as a whole and offered an opportunity for sharp comparisons.
Senior PDP leader and MLC Nizamuddin Bhat while announcing the joining of Ghulam Nabi Kabo and others, said that the respected citizens from Handwara who are joining PDP were the real faces of political activism in the area and they have immensely contributed in strengthening National Conference in that area.
Those who were accompanying Kaboo included Ghulam Mohammed Dar, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Abdul Ahad Bhat, Haji Abdul Ahad, Mohammed Islam War, Habibullah Lone, Mohammed Jamal and Ghulam Rasool Lone, Among others who were present at the occasion include, Minister for PHE and Horticulture Dilawar Mir, Khalil Bandh, Vice President Ved Mahajan, General Secretaries.

BSF organises Bharat Darshan tour KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 28: BSF Jammu Frontier organized a study tour comprising of 35 students from far flung areas of different districts of Jammu region including.
Jammu , Kathua,Samba , Rajaouri, Poonch , Reasi and Ramban.
This Bharat Darshan Tour is conducted by BSF under CPG programme of Ministry of Home Affairs since 2000, BSF Jammu Frontier .
So far, BSF has sent seven such tours to Northern, Central and Southern states during which 322 students have availed this opportunity.
DIG BSF R L Sharma told that the Bharat Darshan tour was conducted from Jan 15 to 28.
The students visited Sea shore at Koteshwar and night halted with the Floating Boder out Post of BSF in Arabian Sea.
The students also had interaction with Pandit Nawal Kishore Sharma, Governor of Gujarat.
The students visited Sabarmati Ashram, Akshar Dham Temple and ONGC at Ahmedabad.
The students also visited places of historical interests at Delhi which included Qutab Minar, Lotus temple, Red Fort, Jama Masjid , India Gate and Parliament house.
They visited Appu Ghar and had Merry ride in Delhi Metro.
Students visited Agra Air Port and Taj Mahal.
At Amritsar the students visited Durgiana temple, Jalianwalabagh and Golden Temple.
They witnessed famous Wagha Retreat parade of BSF.
