NDA boycotts "tainted" Shibu Soren a la Fernandes

New Delhi, July 9 (UNI): Members of the National Democratic Alliance today staged a walkout as soon as Coal and Mines Minister Shibu Soren got up to speak in the Lok Sabha accusing him of being a 'tainted' minister.

Led by senior BJP members, including Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the opposition members walked out of the House, raising slogans like "Daagi Mantri Nahi Chalega" (tainted ministers will not be accepted).

However, the unruffled minister gave replies in a usual manner to the queries of members during the Question Hour.

The NDA's boycott reminded one of former Defence Minister George Fernandes who faced walkouts in both the houses of Parliament for about two years after he was reinducted into the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government even as an inquiry into his involvement in the Tehelka expose on defence deals was yet be to completed.

Members of the NDA boycotted presentation of Railway Budget by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad early this week as he was one of the six tainted ministers of the UPA government whose removal the Opposition was demanding.
