OBC candidate tops IAS list

KT NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI, May 14: Mutyalaraju Revu, an OBC (other backward classes) candidate, has topped 474 succeeding from among nearly two lakh candidates who appeared in the examination for the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) cadre, results of which were announced on Monday.

The topper among the female candidates is Anindita Mitra, with eighth rank in the list.

Both Mutyalaraju and Anandita are engineers, the former M.E.

from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.

Three other engineers also figure in the list of top 20 that includes one from medical and remaining 14 from commerce, humanities and social sciences streams.

Analysis of the results shows that 21 per cent of the selected candidates are females who totaled 101 as against 373 males while the list includes 16 Muslims.

Eighteen of the 474 selected candidates are physically challenged.

Out of top 20, 12 are males and 8 females.

The top 20 also include two who opted for examination in Hindi medium while the remaining 18 opted for the English medium.

Only three of them made it in the merit list in the first attempt while two succeeded in the second attempt five in third attempt, nine in fourth attempt and one in ninth attempt.

Further 16 Muslim candidates have also been declared successful.

Four namely Shami Abidi, Mohammad Qaisar Abdul Haq, Mohamamd Tayyab, Jawahar P, Nazneen Bhasin are in the IAS list.

Others will join the allied services.

They are Syed Waqar Raza, Shnazur Rahman, Farhat Khan, Aslam Khan, M.

Muhammad Naufil, Syed Rashid, Liyaqat Ali Afaqi, Muhamad Suleman Chaudhry, Ayaz Ahmed Kohli and Mausmi Umar.'
