'People in remote areas to have quality education'

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 18 : For achieving full literacy in the state.

Minister of State for Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Mr Yashpaul Kundal inaugurated the newly up-graded High School Goran in Samba tehsil today.

The Zonal Education Officer, Headmaster of the school, staff members, students and sarpanchs and panches of various Panchayats were present on the occasion.

Addressing at the function, Minister said that with the assumption of reins of power, the coalition government has accelerated the pace of development.

And in the sector of education, he said, sweeping changes have brought educational facilities and quality education at the doorsteps of students, particularly in the remote areas.

Responding to the demands of the people, he said that various schools at primary level have been opened besides up-gradation of a high school to higher secondary in the tehsil.

He said that a gigantic project amounting to Rs.50 crore has been formulated to gear up the development activities in the tehsil, adding that Rs.6 crore would also be spent on the construction of Samba-Goran road, which will further change the socio-economic condition of the people.

He said that government is committed to provide higher education to the rural students and a Degree College at Samba would also be opened shortly.

He urged the students to have a pledge on the day not to indulge in any vices and inculcate the habit of reading to excel in their studies for taking the challenges of life boldly.

Later, the Minister attended the Guru Ravi Dass birth anniversary celebration at village Katli.

Addressing the congregation, he said that for the peace and tranquility in the state, mutual brother-hood and communal harmony must be maintained so that fissiparous tendencies may not raise their ugly heads and jeopardize the peaceful atmosphere of the state.
